Not all of life takes place in a courtroom or a law office – sure there’s pro bono cases to take, board seats to fill and community activities to lead. That comes with the territory. But the six attorneys at the Law Offices of Galligan & Newman in McMinnville make it a point to go above and beyond.
“We’ve been very fortunate and successful as a law firm, and as a result we have the ability, and like to and do, give back,” said Mike Galligan, who established Galligan and Newman in 1982. “It’s like my dad said when I was a little boy, ‘it doesn’t cost you anything to speak to someone on the street, so speak to everyone. It might help their day.’”
Galligan, individually, has been known to support the Magness Library in McMinnville and Main Street Live! in McMinnville, a summer concerts series held downtown, and, in general, others who are less fortunate. He served as an adjunct law professor at the University of Tennessee for 13 years. The firm still provides scholarship support.
To him, it’s all part of the bigger picture, and part of making Warren County a better place to live.
“The things that I think are good for a community, for the quality of life, I do my best to support,” Galligan said. “I think you’re always better if you are a part of the community. I want us to be more than just a law firm.”
